Washing In Sewage Water Hadith?
Investigateislam debated & bullied two Muslim reverts from youtube called JibreelK & naliakbar. In this debate he brought up some bizarre topics, this article will refute one of his claims inshAllah. He mentions a hadith, which he claims, shows that the prophet Muhammed (pbuh) allowed Muslims wash in & drink sewage water the hadith he is referring to, it’s from
Sunan Abu-Dawud, Kitab Al Taharah, Book 1, Number 066 Narrated AbuSa'id al-Khudri: The people asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): Can we perform ablution out of the well of Buda’ah, which is a well into which menstrual clothes, dead dogs and stinking things were thrown? He replied: The water is pure and is not defiled by anything Response 1
Firstly the Prophet is not saying you can drink from the well. The hadith is saying the well is pure enough only for basic ablution. Here is a tafsir (explanation/opinion) of this hadith by Awn Maa'bood, unfortunately this has not been translated into English, I read it in Arabic & I will have to translate it for you but I will give a link from the official government website of Saudi Arabia, (Investigateislam endorses this website on 99% of his videos, so he has to accept this) Here is the part of the commentary addressing this issue

The commentary in Arabic is basically saying that because the well was extremely big (almost a reservoir) such a small amount of impurities will not ruin the whole well so badly that it can not be used for abulsion
Try to remember how precious water was back then, it would be stupid for them to use DRINKING water to clean their arms and feet for prayers. They needed this water to survive & for long journeys
Response 2
The well in question (well of Bud'ah) is known to have been much bigger than the size of one 'qullatayn' In The Hanafi & Shafi school of thought, the size of one qullatayn is five hundred ritls. One ritl is 30 dirhams, and one dirham 3.36 grams. So one qullatayn is 220 kilograms. In Islam, when a small impurity goes into water, according to the schools of thought, if the size of the water contaminated is less than 1 ‘qullatayn’ it is impure, even if its colour, texture, density or taste does not change. The water is therefore can not be used for drinking and it can not be used for anything at all
