Abrogation, Prophet

A Loudmouth Arab Christian Hypocrite called Investigate Islam made a video on youtube.com saying that the quran has abrogation’s (contradictions) and he cities a few examples such as Surah 8:65-66, 9:29, 2-256 and Surah 109. He Claims that the quran was the word of the prophet Muhammad (astigfurillah) and he only made peaceful ‘verses’ when it suited him and when he had power he made verses commanding the killing of non Muslims in the Makkah and Medina periods of his life.

Response

Investigate Islam first of all states that the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) ‘‘was weak and had no army in Mecca’’ which is why the Quran has some peaceful verses in it. And later when he had an army he called for the fighting and killing of Christians and Jews. This can easily be refuted by showing ‘peaceful’ verses and verses which encourage freedom of belief from both periods of the prophet Muhammad’s life, from his early part and from the later part. Thus proving the message was consistent. I will now present several examples and show when and where they were revealed.

REVEALED IN: Makkah Quran 109:6
Unto you your religion (deen) And Unto Me My Religion

REVEALED IN: Medina Quran 2:256
There is no compulsion in religion (deen)

REVEALED IN: Medina Quran 60:8
"God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you

REVEALED IN: Makkah Quran 18:29
Say, "The truth is from your Lord": Let him who will believe, and let him who will, reject (it): for the wrong-doers We have prepared a Fire whose (smoke and flames), like the walls and roof of a tent

REVEALED IN: Medina Quran 5:28
"If thou dost stretch thy hand against me, to slay me, it is not for me to stretch my hand against thee to slay thee: for I do fear God, the cherisher of the worlds

So there are clear verses indicating peace with non believers from both parts of the prophet Muhammed’s (pbuh) lifetime in Makkah and Medina. So investigate islam’s theory is false.

The seerah (biography) of the life of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) shows that in his most powerful position after returning from Makkah he did not slay the people who persecuted him, killed and tortured the Muslims and their families and confiscated their property instead as we read in the Quran 12: 92 the prophet Muhammad said: "This day let no blame be (cast) on you: Allah will forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy!
