Babies Are Formed in the Stomach?
Investigateislam made a video titled ‘Allah create babies in Stomachs ? please don't eat him lol’ He says the quran has a scientific error in it because he claims the Quran uses the word Stomach when describing where a baby is formed. As we know from science babies are not made in the stomach The Verse investigateislam quotes is from Surah 39 verse 6, here is the English translation by Mohammed Picthall.
Surah 39:6 He created you from one being, then from that (being) He made its mate; and He hath provided for you of cattle eight kinds. He created you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, in a threefold gloom. Such is Allah, your Lord. His is the Sovereignty. There is no Allah save Him. How then are ye turned away?
Investigateislam Claims the word 'womb' that is used in the translation should actually be ‘stomach’ according to the arabic and thus there is an error in the quran because that’s not where babies are formed.
Response
The word used in the Quran is Butun بُطُونِ which is the plural of the word Batn. Investigateislam's translation of the word should not be used because he is he's biased & he speaks slang modern Arabic. The word should be looked at in its original classical sense. Investigateislam uses Googletranslation in his video to prove his point, this is very weak & normal users can even contribute to Googletranslation, its not academic or trustworthy I will show you my sources and you can compare them to Investigateislams sources .Here is defintion provided from the Classical Arabic Dictionary by Abdul Mannan Omar pg 55, which you can see below
Here is another extended definition,
بطن The inside, or interior of anything; syn.جوفand so باطن ; syn. داخل: (K pl. of the former as above. (TA.) Thus بطن واد ; means The interior of water-course or river-bed [or vally; i. e. its bottom, in whic,h flows, occasionally or constantly, its torrent or rier]. (MA.) And بطن مكة means The interior of Mekkah. (Bd in xlviii. 24.) [Hence,] it is said of the Kur-an, لكل اية منها ظهر و بطن meaning To every verse thereof is an apparent sense and a sence requiring development. (TA.) [See 'ji.]
See also 'L,. [And its pl. Lt; is also used as a sing., meaning The middle, or midst, of a thing:..........

The arabic word usually used for the stomach is ma'edah معدة, The word Butun, is not synonymous with Stomach. Butun in its true classical sense refers to the inside, so its linked to the belly, abdomin , interior, internal. As you see above, it can also refer to things in the middle i.e. development. I.e. babies in the womb, so its actually a very good word to use when refering to the development of babies Investigateislam was wrong as usual & infact his source (googletranslation) proves him wrong Also , go to Googletranslation and if you put the word STOMACH and translate it to arabic the result will be المعدة which is pronounced 'al maedah' and this is the standard modern word we use for stomach & this word is not used in the Quran for the creation of a child.
Ibn Kathir's Opinion
Investigateislam quotes Ibn Kathir's opinion on the development of babies. Keep in mind Ibn Kathir is only a commentator of the Qu'ran who was born about 700 years ago. So he had no idea how babies were formed so his opinion doesnt matter. Investigateislam takes his opinion and blames it on Allah and the Quran..............thats quite ridiculous.
