Response
Christian prince, knows the original Arabic does not say friends, but he states the Translation put it as protectors and friends, so he will use that translation. This is inconsistent because in other videos and debates he claims the Qu’raan can only be understood in Arabic, and he rejects the translations such as for the word ‘nikah’ which I did an article on also
The word used in the original Arabic is awilyah, here is the Arabic
أَوْلِيَاءَ
The word here is in the plural, in singular form it is ‘wali’ This word does not mean Friend or Friends, the Arabic word for friend is Sadeeq and in plural it would be ‘Asidiqa’ Now to prove the word Awilyah is not friends here is a Quran verse
Quran 3:122 Allah was their WALI (protector), and in Allah should the faithful (Ever) put their trust
Contradiction?
Another Issue Investigateislam raised was a supposed contradiction in the quran. He said that in one verse Quran 2:221 it says we are forbidden to marry unbelieving women. But In another verse he states that we can marry ‘Believing women’. This is not a contradiction and its very simple to understand. The Verse in Quran 2:221 is talking about Idolaters ‘ almushrikati’ الْمُشْرِكَاتِ the other verse is talking about Women of the Book, meaning Christians and Jews (ahlilkitab) and they are considered Believing Women, because they claim to believe in the 1 God of Abraham, whereas Idolaters do not claim this
